World Record Attempt

Over £3,000 raised for Charity. Thank you to everyone, especially, Jason, Barclays, Graham, Barney Bay, Heather Cox, Kim, Jamie & Scot, Bex Temata, The Salisbury Journal, Spire FM and The Salisbury International Arts Festival

I did it. At 2pm on Tuesday 30th May I completed a 26 hour street performance. Although I cannot claim it was a solo show, the audience participation included many other proffessional entertainers who had come along to help me through, I can claim that I held my audience and entertained them for 26 hours.

Theatresports, Storytelling, Joke telling and other improvised art forms helped fill the hours.

Other performers came throughout the event to offer support. Young people and students on half term came and cheered me on late into the night, old friends turned out at obscene hours and volunteers from all three charities braved the weather to support me.

Young Jason Barker aged 18 sat through the whole event, setting a world record of his own.

Cirkus Bex Temata are coming to Salisbury especially to watch the world record attempt. The Latvian group heard about the record attempt through a relative in England and decided that this was something they wanted to see and be part of.

The group based in a circus school even got funding from their city council to come and watch.

Although they will be watching the event, they plan to volunteer to take part in some audience participation so they can add their own unique brand of humour to the show.

Jonathan the Jester is to juggle with the Millenium Flame during the show. Currently in the care of Salisbury Hospice Trust, the millenium flame is due to burn for a thousand years.. thats if Jonathan doesn't drop it or let it go out...

At Noon on Monday 29th May Jonathan the Jester will be attempting to break the record of the longest street performance.

Jonathan is going to attempt a 26 hour non stop show, in doing so, he is hoping to raise £6,000 for various charities.

The record currently stands at 25 hours, set by Rumplestiltskin the Jester from Oz.

But a world record on it's own is not enough. His team, the Table Top Circus, are currently planning and writing a show which will not be circular or repetitive but will be exciting, dramatic and spectacular and high energy.

The record attempt will take place in Salisbury Market Square and on the the Guild Hall Square on a public thoroughfare, and exposed to the British weather he hopes to hold and maintain a crowd for the entire length of the show.

Will anyone watch the WHOLE event?
